Making a big impact at a trade show is important, but the marketing efforts prior and the follow-up after the event can be the difference between making marketing impression and closing on a sales lead. The most important thing is to have a cohesive message from start to finish. This means start to promote via social media, your website or an email campaign leading to the event, then following up using similar messaging to get in contact.

Having the consistency is key. If the customer hardly recognizes the brand when you do the follow-up, they may not close with your company because they no longer trust your message. On the other hand, if your brand appears one way on social media yet a different way in the trade booth, they may not recognize you at the event. Choosing similar imagery and wording will make a better platform for your brand voice.

    Social Media Efforts

Social media is one of the best tools to use when leading up to a trade show event. By letting your customer base know where you will be, you will have more attendees seeking out your booth. Even better, getting social shares will let others who haven’t yet purchased from you know your booth will be available for questions.

Putting out on social media what attendees can expect can go a long way. If someone knows there will be a demonstration when they are interested in the product, they will be much more likely to take the time to stop by.

    Post-Show Plan

After the event is over, your work has only just begun. Dropping the ball and not moving forward with a follow-up can be a crucial mistake. Having a mailing list sign up can create a great mailing list to send out a thank you email after attendees have taken their time to learn about the product. Not only will this show consideration on behalf of your company, it will keep your display freshly in their mind.

The email can be a great opportunity to communicate other services and give direct links to the things you communicated while at the trade show. This type of follow-up can be the piece of the puzzle that leads to a very successful show overall.
